Grants & Research Team
In November of 2004, we began a Grant and Research Team in an effort to help inform and assist ministries in becoming organized to be able to apply for funding. This has helped to make them aware of opportunities for funding that were suitable to their specific needs. Project URGE also became part of a community consortium group called FACT (Faith And Communities Together), headed up by Foodlink, in conjunction with CUPP (Community University Partnership Project). This group represents collaborative efforts toward applying for federal, state, and local funding. Additionally, they seek to find more tangible ways to partner together to benefit the community in regard to capacity building. Through this program we have been able to link up with organizations in financial need and have also provided some organizations the opportunity to collaborate their community efforts with a sponsoring faith based institution.
In late winter and spring of '09 training sessions were offered to grassroots FBO's and CBOs, to further strengthen organizations through capacity building. These training sessions grew from our committment (FACT & CUPP) to strengthen the capacity of organizations that impact the under-resourced. Project URGE was involved with the workshop on Collaboration.
In 2007 Project URGE was involved in administering technical assistance and advice through the Captial Compassion Fund, a federally funded grant to help grassroots organizations with capacity building. Project URGE worked in conjunction with Roberts Wesleyan College Professor, Len Erb and Foodlink in working with five organizations.
